I reside in the "Live Free Or Die" state and it gets pretty cold here in the winter (negative 10-40) in the summer it gets up to 105 though, in anycase, I was curious if there were ways around having to run deisal before WVO. from what I have read, you have to run deisal for 15 minutes after starting and 10 minutes before shutting down the engine, well thats my whole commute, 25 minutes. I was wondering if its possible perhaps to have the second take heated via power outlet rather that waiting for the water to heat it up.

so I could plug in a few minutes before I drove away so to speak.

Ravindra,

There is not magic amount of minutes you have to run on diesel. Some cars can switch over within a few minutes and other might have to wait longer. The purge time is also variable from engine to engine and conversion to conversion.

On my truck I drive about 2-3 miles before switching. That gets my engine up to temp, (the gage is in the middle) but I also have a Vegtherm just before my IP. I usually switch back to diesel about 3 miles from my office.

This seems to work for my truck, have not gone through a winter yet. I'm in NJ.

Do a search "pad heaters" there are products out there, just not sure how practical they are. You will consume the energy you save on electricity potentialy.

There is no safe way to avoid starting and shutting down (overnight) on diesel. But with a good conversion design the start and purge can be cut down to just a few minutes even in very cold temps.

Vo conversion technology has been progressing at a very fast rate for the last few years. Early conversion designs are completely outmoded in terms of efficiency, utility, and convenience.
