Hello All-

I am converting a 83 300d and don't know what to do about the tank. I want to go with a metal tank, hopefully one without any baffles that I can add a stainless steel appliance gas hose heating element to. I have done some research here and can't find much info. One post mentioned a tank from summit racing and another said the grease car tank was very expensive. Does any one have any ideas for me?

Thanks,

Bill

I bought an 84 300D yesterday and have been doing my homework. Cool These should both work for you and are deep enough for a Hot Fox.

Thanks for the link and congrats on your new ride. I also scored my car yesterday. It has 150k and complete service records. I was really lucky, it is a wonderful car.

I like the tank, it is smaller and cheaper than the ones available at summit. I am hoping to mount the tank on the passenger side half into the wheel well. I am hoping to have access to the spare tire. What do you think?

As for mounting points if the holes don't match I can have someone weld some on.

Having owned it for only a day I haven't had the chance to see how it will mount. I'm thinking of making two cardboard mockups, one for each tank size. That way I can fool around and see where everything should go. I too will want access to the spare.

28ish gallons. Baffles, Alimunun coolant coiled tube internal with NPT ports. NPT Ports for fuel pick-up/return, drain, vent, site tube, fuel level sender and electric or other heater.

Cost $300. This welder has made 1/2 dozen for MBs, VWs and Trucks. SEnd me a message and I can send you the drawings deminsions

Thanks for all the input!! I just bought the 13 gal marine tank. It is not baffled so I can put a stainless steel appliance hose heater element into it. I checked the layout on the passenger side of the car and it looked good, real good. Then I took the car for a ride, awesome. Can't wait to be running on veg. Thanks again-

Thats awesome news. I'll be ordering my components soon and since you're my guinea pig with this tank please let me know how your mounting worked out...exactly. Cool
