I just got 17 cubies of the dark oil and 26 cubies of the light oil. The dark stuff has a lot of corn meal in it and is a ***** to pre-filter but it's still worth the work as this leg of my tour cost me $900 in fuel. The light oil was just poured strait into my CF tank from the cubie just using a stocking hose clamped to the spout. My dad and I will be going over to S.C. in a couple weeks to pick up a few hundred gallons of oil I have there and move it to his house. There is a big learning curve on how to collect and process oil on the road. It is not for the faint of heart and I would not recommend it for small vehicles on short trips, its a lot of work.

Here's a sample of the dark oil after just going through my pantyhose filters

Great pics! Could you send a picture of the panty hose filter you used? That is amazing how clear the dark sample cleared up! What kind of oil is the dark sample?

I lost my source for canola oil and have a good source for soy oil. After it sits for a week it is clean and water free, but it is as dark as iced tea.

The Darker oil Is more like the oil I always get. I have NEVER seen such a dramatic colour change even after final filtering and drying. I have had some sump oil looking veg lighten up after a few months settling ( But not to the extent your showing here!) due to the particles dropping up but this is something new all together.

I have had crappy oil clean up quite a bit and gone from rubbish to primo stuff but never as easy as with just a coarse filter like this.

You must be doing something very right! Good luck with it!

If after the panty hose filter he'd have put it back into the same cubie to the same level and under the same lighting, I doubt the color would have changed much, if at all.

Here's part of how I pre-filtered the oil. I made the pvc holder for the pantyhose then cut the top off of the cubie and set the unit down in the cubie. Notice the slots in the base so oil can flow through. I then had a colander type strainer that I streched a pair of pantyhose over (the strainer was slipped into the panty hose so one layer on top the other under.) I set that on top of mt turkey fryer and used a drill pump to transfer the oil. I was amazed with the results.
