D2 primer with a spade connection and an aux. battery.

Melted a fuseable link last night, 5 miles from home, too dark to fix it so I went home eventually with another friend who lives where I parked the truck. But the symptoms were that of a bad fuel cut solenoid so it didn't look like the link until today when I got Acc power back.

The remedy to the improper shutdown was to let the primer run for about 20min off the deep cycle battery in the back of the truck. And yes if I had found the bad link it would have been better but it could've been worse. I was only a few miles out from a friends having stopped on diesel then started back up and switched to VO. There really wasn't a lot of VO given what the pump held over the 2 miles or so before the engine died was D2. It was a little harder starting yes, but not smokey at all since my oil is really getting to be the cream of the crop in particular. It's clearly not as thorough as running it through the injectors but it ain't bad either. For my IDI engine a thorough circulation of the primer will be a remedy in an emer. It can at least dilute the mixture enough to make it combustible cold and I do believe my ride started up cleaner today. And yes you will end up with a negligible amount of veg in the D2 tank.
