You can if it has an internal pressure relief.

Mine (Spin Clean), has a bolt opposite the intake but no valve inside the bolt. I got it for that price because it did not have the low pressure valve. According to Dave at Spin Clean.

on page 3 the valve is shown with a sping and the rest of the parts. if you have the parts you have the valve. its designed to openup at 20psi, but if you payed $30 less then that is quite the savings. i guess the valve is there for automotive purposes and rightly so.

when i first send David am email replied that the filter came from the UK so this can very well be a German product.

perhaps mine came with a crack that was not noticed during production??

hopefully i will get word this week.

hi pat,

the defect was confirmed from the UK and the canadian source sent me a new turbine without any problems whatsoever.

listem MANN makes amazing filters period.

building CF's is not a new business to them and i was also dealing with a seller from the UK on these CF and although 90psi will work it not nessecary because 1/10th of a micron will be attained at below 80psi. but this is all on their pdf document.

i did not know that its possible to order the SpinClean CF without the shutoff valve and their being a price difference. i happen to have one and it open at psi.

when i campare the DC and SC they are identical with the exception of the center shaft. but like both manufacturers indicate the psi needs to be introduced VERY slowly and that is important.

hope this helps.

Hi Plugly,
I've just had a Dieselcraft delivered to the UK, delivery was sub one week.

All in (including tax and carriage) it cost about £230.

Would be interested to here the cost of the Mann + hummel one if you get the info.

Cheers,

Mike

I'm about to configure my Spin Clean setup and echo some of the questions asked before but never quite completely answered.

The Spin clean comes with a British Standard Pipe Thread inlet. The IDP company that sold me mine ($160 plus 10 shipping a couple weeks ago) included the flare adapter but I don't want to use that.

Will 1/4" NPT work??? I saw someone say they thought that's what they used. Also, I saw that one member used a hydraulic hose. Any special fitting there? I just want to be sure it will seal right. Do I need to use pipe dope? Any other things I need to do?

Thanks!
Nick

I too have a new spin clean and am worried if the 1/4" will seal properly. Does anyone make an adapter from BSPT to NPT?

I think I saw that. I'll go ahead and order the adapter. I read somewhere in these 12 pages that one successful member just used 1/4" regular ole pipe thread.

Anyways, may as well do it right.

Are people using pipe dope or just counting on the threads to seal the connections?

Nick or Muleears - So what is the size of the included flare fitting adapter ? Could one of you please post a picture of it ?

You still need to use a sealant on the correct size adapter threads -yellow teflon tape or that white Permatex stuff. Be careful not to overtighten .

Thanks

It's a screw in fitting that came with the Spin Clean. It's about 1" in length and screws into the spinclean input. The other side is a usa flare fitting. But kindof a cumbersome way to do it I think. I'd rather use the conversion nipple.

As far as sealing the pipes... does plain old pipe dope paste work? What did you use?

that person was i,

i went to the local plumbing specialty store and i asked for an adapter 1/4 on each. one side for the spinclean and the other for the standard stainless steel weaved covered hose which is a compressin fitting i beleive. i gave me a coupling that is compression one side and npt on the other. its npt because that is all they sell.

btw, i did not recieve any adapter when i got my CF , just the gasket.

i used thread sealant from loctite on the npt to the CF and teflon on all the other joints.

i guess i can post a picture tomorrow
