What fitting did you all connect directly to the spin clean. Is it a standard 1/2" NPT? I put a 1/2" nipple in there and it didn't seem to screw in very far. I didn't force it as I didn't want to damage the threads.

i believe i used 1/4 npt w/o any problems.

Attached is a pic of my proposed setup. Do you think it will work? My intent is to have overflow from the pump on the right be controlled by valve A. Valve B would only be closed when I want to use the output through valve A as a transfer pump. Please critique before I seal this thing up. Heat will be provided by a band heater on the barrel. Also, how do you all connect the output from the pump to the plumbing for the CF? Thanks to all.

The dieselcraft also has 2 bronze bearings for almost the full height which should make it last much longer than the spinclean which looks like it has small bearings.

the Spinclean has 2 glued bushing as well.

hey Mulears,

i assume your heater will hang on the side of the barrel but will all your filtering be on 55G barrels? if so you are looking at 6hrs aprox. before using the oil.

naturally if you make a complact setup u can move around to filter smaller batches.

a lot of the setup so far including mine have been by laying down all the piping/valves next to each. i know it makes the understanding of what is happening easier but why not make a "tower type setup" and have the CF on top - a christmas tree of sorts.

i wonder if its possible to have a setup able to fit inside a plastic milk container cube?

just my .o2cents

I plan on mounting the plumbing on the board as shown in the pic. I will probably have to mount the motor/pump on the floor next to it.

I will be heating via a band drum heater around the barell with an insulated blanket. Yes I will be doing 55gal at a time.

My main concern now is if you all think my plumbing layout will work. Have I forgotten anything?

Muleears,

Looks like this won't work, as I see it you won't be able to regulate the proper pressure to the CF. Your control will be cutting off the flow to the bypass until you get to pressure, and you don't have a valve there. The valve you have to the CF will be more useful to the bypass. When fully opened all the flow will go through there since there is likely an interal valve in the base of the CF, if it is built like a DieselCraft. Thus, when you open the bypass valve your pressure should fall to zero and your CF will slow to a stop, and the internal valve will shut off the flow to the rotor and you can clean it.

The special cheaper version of the spinclean that he has doesn't have a check valve in the base. I think that plumbing will work if operated properly.

Thank you Sun, I didn't see the pressure relief valve, I was thinking it was open flow. So he can regulate his pressure with valve A.

Thanks for the input guys. My oberdorfer is due anyday. My only concern now is connecting to the pump. Also do you gentlemen connect the high pressure side of the pump to the plumbing or do you use a high pressure hose and hose clamps? This scares me, if one lets go at 100psi, I'll have oil everywhere in no time. Did you use hydraulic hoses? Or simply plump hard pipe all the way? I'll look back at the DC post to see what I can find.

I bought my Spin Clean from a place in Canada, I can get the address if you need it. They are on the web, search for Spin clean centrifuge. Or Deiselcraft.

Thats not what was said back on page 2:

"special I just bought a FF25 from David they lower the price as it doesn't have the low pressure cutoff as it's not needed for WVO apps."

If you have the low pressure check valve, then Cal, you don't need valve B and its simpler to operate.

Sun,

I don't believe mine has the low pressure check valve. I think it will take whatever pressure I give it. I planned on leaving vavle B open all the time unless I was using the pump as a transfer pump. I would only close valve A to regulate overflow and pressure to the CF. Make sense?

I like having the low pressure valve internal in the CF, it allows me to just open my bypass valve and keep the pump running while I switch out the rotor with a clean one, (without having oil coming through the CF), then all I have to do is slowly close the bypass valve again to bring the pressure back up and the CF is back going again.

check out the 2nd page on the pdf document that provides all the info on MANN/SpinClean filter.

http://www.oilconditioningsystems.co.nz/ocs/downloads/25_new.pdf

if your CF does not have the nut on the opposite side of the feedline then u dont have one but based on your pictures it apears that you do.

Mine (Spin Clean), has a bolt opposite the intake but no valve inside the bolt. I got it for that price because it did not have the low pressure valve. According to Dave at Spin Clean.
