I got my pressure relief valve from McMaster friday also.

I guess I'll wait till I have the pump in my hands before I try to buy the motor. I'm just impatient, and want to get this started. I'm stockpiling oil just for this.

I just got back from New Zealand which is an absolutely beautiful country, and I have order my ff25. I have a gear pump all i need is a motor and the other misc parts. I will post some pics when It is all done.

one idea I had for a mobile rig was running the pump off of the belt drive from the engine. Anyone know of a way to keep the RPMs constant as the engine's RPMs change?

You want the pressure constant as the rpms change. A pressure regulator will do this.

hello all,

today i did my first test on 5G container of which the oil was fairly clean to begin with.

i waited for the oil temp to reach 160F at 90psi but i was raising the psi to 100 to see if there was a difference. well after 15 minutes or so there was a snap and the rotation had stopped. i open up the CF and the rotor had snapped in 2 pieces - very strange. i sent an email to david and hopefully they will replace the part without any hassle, to boot this was the first attempt - very frustrating as i have been waiting for a while to get this going and it #$%^& snapped right off the bat. hope they respect their 2 year warranty.

i will post a picture and keep you posted.

evan

Ouch! sorry to hear about your failure on the 1st run. Everyone else running one of these should be very cautious about exceeding 90psi.

With my Dieselcraft, I have run it above 90psi with no breakage (even though 90 is the max. recommended.) What happens when I hit about 150 is the rotor top bends and an o-ring pops out, which is easily fixed.

even though the company may state max. 90psi it should be able to handle 100psi

a spoke to a fellow at the company and he said the CF should work at 60psi , i mean how much cleaning or to what micron can they clean at that rating?

i sent an email to david and he was fast to reply so we shall see how good their customer support is.

i was looking at the picture on the dieselcraft website after a motor oil cleaning and i do not know if the its the picture but can someone who has a dieselcraft confirm if the rotor is made of 100% cast and the center housing is machined or a steel or stronger metal than aluminum is "screwed" into place. if its a solid single piece as the spinclean then these to models are very very similar.

The center shaft of the dieselcraft is rolled steel, and not cast like the spinclean, so should be much stronger. The dieselcraft also has 2 bronze bearings for almost the full height which should make it last much longer than the spinclean which looks like it has small bearings.

Well I have all my plumbing stuff, the motor and the centrifuge. Now I'm just waiting for the oberdorfer I got on ebay. Hopefully I'll be spinning by next weekend.

Any helpful hints for the first try? Should I start with clean oil just to test or just the regular oil. Should I start out at 100psi or start lower and work my way up?

Use dirty VO and start at 80psi since 100 may cause breakage noted above.

the SpinClean CF is made by MANN filters so the internationally recognition of quality is there. the FF25 model is not the smallest but very popular and apears to be labeled by different companies.

just my .02 cents worth

Sun,
I may have misread the instructions but I think the spin clean has a 100psi limit. But, I agree, it is probably a good idea to start at 80 or so.

well David from Industriel Diesel Products and i can say the service is excellent. he gave me a break down of the problem and a turbine replacement.

the FF25 has been on the market since the 80's and is a well proven product it just so happened the aluminum had a "a metallurgic defect."

well for all its worth i am happy with my German made CF and even considering using it on my TDi to replace my standard filter if possible.

anyway great tech support and u can't been purchasing locally.

What fitting did you all connect directly to the spin clean. Is it a standard 1/2" NPT? I put a 1/2" nipple in there and it didn't seem to screw in very far. I didn't force it as I didn't want to damage the threads.

Yes the same here!

How the h.ll do You screw over there in US?

I bought a Dieselcraft centrifuge and the 1/4" doesn't fit the European 1/4".

However on the CF itself there was a metric 12x1.5 ingoing thread. Inches here in Sweden is just used by very old plumbers. The moon you know.....

What's NPT-screwing?
Something is queer?
