greetings grease people!
what an awesome resource we have here.
thanks to all who put it on

i drive a 5 ton beast that runs on wvo.
Crew Cab, dual 20 gal tanks for petrodiesel/biodiesel, and one 50 gallon for wvo.
I'm soon to upgrade to a 100 gallon steel tank for wvo, playing with ideas on how and where. I'M building a nice cabin on the back out of wood and steel with an aluminum skin.

I am real interested in connecting with other f-350 wvo'ers, preferably 1993 model folks.

lets talk about how our trucks are doin, mileage, and issues. And Filtering technique, sooo key.
Right now i'm getting some fuel filter issues... {and slipping out of third too, but thats another topic...}

Its easy for us who aren't feeding the petrosystem beast to get a little self-righteous,
but man, if youre running on wvo
heres one person saying thanks to you.

peace

I run an 88 F250 on wvo. Planning on upgarding to 93 or early 94 turbo in the next year. I would be interested in your experiences so far. And I may be able to help with your "filter issues".

Universalcat,
How did you convert your truck to use SVO? I have a 91 F250 that I'm thinking of converting and I'm just trying to get ideas from everyone on how I'm going to go about it. Dana has given lots of good info, I'm just seeing what others have done to the same type of vehicle.

I recall you were looking for an L shape tank to mount in the bed. If shape is not critical I know where you can get cylindrical shaped tanks of from 20-120 gal capacity for FREE!
Lost your email. Confused

I'm in the process of converting a 2000 Excursion so would also be interested in hearing anyone's tips and suggestions.

Right now I'm trying to get together parts to un-lower the vehicle to stock height to get more clearance for a larger WVO tank (to be mounted under the SUV).

Anyone interested in a set of 20" Boyd Coddington wheels and newish tires? Smile

hey,
well, the truck is a beast. I'm really impressed with the power, sooooo fast on the highway.
I think she is ideally suited to wvo. Lots and lots of tank options,too. I'm going to put in two 50 gallon tanks under the frame rails for gathering unfiltered oil, and one 100 gal steel tank hooked up to the fuel line. {in addition to the two 20 gal diesel stock diesel tanks.}

I 've been having issues with air in the fuel line, i believe from my injector return lines, so shes starting very very rough when cold. Also,
at high speeds, over 85 mph, i've had some stuttering on veggie oil, usually when going uphill. I switch back to diesel for 30 seconds, the fuel filter warning light comes on during the flush, and then i switch back to veggie. It doesn't always solve the issue.

People often talk about the long flush time with big trucks, but lately i've been flushing for only a minute or so, with no problems. I have agreasel system with one 3 port solenoid. How about you?

I am very interested in free steel tanks, cylindrical or no!!! I'll send you an email.

oh, dana,
as far as mileage goes, i get 16 on the highway with a light load, on diesel or grease. Thats pretty good for a 350.
If you get one, advance the timing, it makes a big difference in mileage.

universalcat,
Hey, if you are having any kinda truck problems go to www.thedieselstop.com they have great forums and alot of helpful info from other Ford owners. They have helped me and saved me a bunch of money on repairs.

I like the greasel kit, but I don't have the $$$ for it right now. But I might just spring for it and recoup the investment on the money I save.

I have a 2001 Ford f-350 dually diesel that I want to convert to WVO. I pull a 36 foot gooseneck enclosed trailor to install my systems.
Can anyone give me some tips on Greasel and his system? Will my performance chip in the computer be an issue? How about my exaust brake?
I think I will build a 150 gallon bed mount tank with heat and filtering onboard. Any suggestions??????

Hello! I am buying a 93 F350 this next week. It's a big diesel extended cab, and am buying it because a friend of mine trusts this guy, and it's in great condition....not to mention that the truck is huge and powerful and I am in love with it. Want any info on how to convert it to bio, and anything else you got! Thanks all.

Hey, i just got 1988 cheyanne turbo diesel, F350 van. There is like no space for a flat plate in and around where the actual injectors are. While I do have two tanks the thing just eats gas like a monster. I was thinking of a heated 55 gal tank in the back. and a coolant heated line. Any one done this before? I woudl love any advice or guidance. Hope to hear from you.

I'm thinking that would be an E-350 van, not an F-350 van (unless Ford has redone their lineup lately).

Anyway, I'd suggest that you do a van version of Pizzamans' IDI version of www.dinofuelalternatives.com Veggiestroke system.

Search for "Pizzaman" on our search engine. Read his conversion info. He's a New Yorker conversant with IDI versions of Veggiestroke style Ford SVO conversions. If you need explanation, PM me.

I see no reason why it wouldn't work on a van.

Hi, injungirl

If you want to run biodiesel, just buy, or learn to make it. That subject is in a different part of these forums. Any diesel will burn biodiesel unmodified, as long as the ambient temperature is not too low.

To convert a diesel to run on clean filtered and fully de-watered waste vegetable oil (WVO), you can search here for your engine/vehicle, and you can check this database to see what others have done. First you need to make sure that the compression, glow plugs, and injectors are all running up to full spec before even considering any of this. Take your time to read and learn before you act. It will save you a lot of trouble.

Hi all! I bought a 1990 7.3 IDI, F350, 4 door, camper shell, with 365,000 miles about 3 months ago for $1429.00. It runs very strong and loves wvo. The paint and body are just a little rough, with a few dings and scraches. The interior is 90 percent like new. I have been running it on the wvo I filter for my 2 Mercedes. It gets around 12 miles a gallion in the city or on the highway, I would love to be able to kick up the mpg. As far as converting it to a system all I have done is keep the rear tank 50/50 diesel-wvo and the front tank 100% wvo. I start it on diesel in the morning and after it warms up I change over to the wvo in the front tank. I am sort of doing this as an experment to see if I really need anything else added to make it be able to use wvo.Ilive in So.Cal. so the weather here is mild. I did take it to the mountains for a week of fishing and the overnite temps were around 29, it didnt seem to matter. How do you change the timeing on this to get better mileage? I put a K&N filter on it and removed the 6 in line baffles in the tailpipe and no increase in mpg, but a little more power. The 1983 Mercedes 300SD(14,000 miles on wvo), and 1985 Mercedes 300DT(25,000 miles on wvo) I did my own conversion useing a flat plate heat exchanger, injection line heater, added fuel filter and wvo filtered to 1 micron. They both only have one tank. By the way the oil collecting around here is getting competive. I love the truck but I dont know if I will be able to keep the beast full of wvo. Well may you all find the bottomless pit of an wvo source !! Smile Smile

I used the front stock tank in my 1994 F250 for a while and had polymerization issues which resulted in rapid filter clogging and possible IP damage issues. I have changed to a plastic tank for WVO. I recommend using aluminum or plastic tanks for WVO . I wonder what it would look like if I had been using WVO /Rug/ or diesel blend instead of 100% WVO ?

This tank was used used for WVO for about 3 years. I have run several hundred gallons trough it . The truck is often parked for weeks at a time with only a partial tank of WVO . The clogging filter problems started about a year ago and got worse . Cleaning it thoroughly (with NaOH and pressure washing ) would be somewhat difficult and the poly problem would return, so it went to the recycling center. Heed the warnings by Chris Goodwin and some others and don't use steel tanks or copper (and zinc of course ) containing components in your WVO system .
