I have been looking around for a Yukon/Tahoe or Suburban to convert and I came across an Excursion locally for a resonable price. I was thinking that Greasel was the only company that makes a tank specifically for the Excursion and it was around a grand. I definately want an external tank. What are my options here that won't cost an arm and a leg?

Thanks for the help!!!!!

And PlantDrive - particularly if it's a 6.0 - we're the only one with a 6.0 kit, other than Greasel, AFAIK.

Thanks guys, but I guess my main concern is getting an extra tank made for an Excursion. What are my tank options?

(It is a 7.3, I can't afford a 6.0, that isn't old enough for me yet.)

I had my tank custom made by a local welder. A friend with an Excersion was refured there also. Last word was it would be 30 gallons and filled from the rear side of the truck. Would have been 37 gallons but the parking brake cable was in the way and 7 inches had to be trimmed off. Price was less than $300 with a fuel sender gauge made out of aluminum. I think he was picking it up this week.

You could do what I did, which is described here:

http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1596...101082331#9101082331

I used the Greasel tank which was ~$1k so if a local welder can make you one for $300 you'll be in a lot better shape than I was. In fact if you can get a tank fabbed for $300 and install it yourself you could reduce the cost to somewhere around half of what I ended up paying.

Other thing I'd add is that I removed my vegtherm and replaced it with about 5' of HIH. I'm sure hte vegtherm is a good product and all that but I don't find it to be well suited to the 7.3L. The 7.3L is deadheaded so when you're idling your fuel gets REALLY hot, and then when you're cruising 70MPH on the freeway it can almost keep up but not quite. Five feet of HIH keeps my temps VERY stable under all conditions. I need to update my BOM and drawings, etc... to reflect this change.

Good luck.
