Will this tank work? I'm converting a Suburban and the dimensions of this tank are very similar to someone who sent me a sketch of his custom tank.
What would you suggest for heat?
Thanks.

H & W seem fine but 51 inches L seems too long, probably will hit the rear axle, best you get under your car w/ a tape mesasure to be sure. Just guessing at what year Suburban you have.

i live in kc. the welds are split in the corners. it can be rewelded-much easier than starting from scratch. the reason it split is the veggunk filled the vent hole in the cap. now i add a hose from the top of the tank to the diesel tank as a postitive vent.

I found a 55 gallon stainless tank on Ebay for $cheap$. It's out of a boat. It took a little work but it's been great. It's baffled and has a 2" bung to fill.

I had to have a fitting welded into the bottom for fuel-out and I also added a heat exchanger...

Were did you get the tubing you are using for you in tank heat exchanger??? I am looking for the same thing???

heat exchanger for tank

Is this available for $9 anywhere anymore? Is it a waste of time going with something like this verses standard aluminum tubing? Do I really need 'this' much contact area in the tank (11-gallon 'cube-like' tank) for my little 1.9L TDI?

I think they are $15

Motown Fire - That looks like a galvanized tank . Zinc (galvanizing ) and WVO (or the acids found it it ) are reactive (see- http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/159605551/m/122607161/inc/1 ) . It would be better choose at tank made of another material ( preferably aluminum , palstic, or stainless steels ). You heated pickup configuration looks good but use it in a another tank .

Seeking tank options for my 1994 Ford F250 7.3 long bed pickup truck ? -

I have been using the front stock tank for WVO (heavy polymerized WVO buildup aka "chicken skin") and rusty rear tank for diesel . I want to replace the steel WVO tank with aluminum or plastic and also need to deal with a rusty rear tank for diesel .

I am looking for some under the bed tank options than stock type replacement tanks.

( Cheap metal stock replacement tanks are available for around $100 shipped front or rear , plastic tanks for about $200 ea- www.mts.company.com ) .

edit - see this photo -for a good reason why not to use a steel tank for WVO -

I have a very limited budget for this so unfortunately those direct fit plastic tanks from

www.mtscompany.com are not a choice in this case .

rkpatt,
A steel powder keg would not be a good idea, i.e. sparks. I imagine it is aluminumn and they proably use plastic these days.

This is what I hope is my finished tank. The wrecking yard gave me the gas neck. Next time I am going to hold out for a Diesel filler neck but free is free.

25 gallon auxillary fuel tank which fits a 1992-1999 GMC/Chevrolet Suburban.

The tank was built on 6/12/2007, and manufactured by Northwest Metal Products of Forest Grove, Oregon

this is the same "vegwedge" tank i used. careful- the vent is in the fill cap and it can/will get crudded up and the tank will pressureize and split the seams. add a positive vent- i connected to the top of the diesel tank.

if anyone needs the one i have send me a note it's not that bad.
