SunWizard,

Am also thinking about using the RCI tank for my conversion. Can you tell me how you made your heat exchanger and from what material? Did you drill extra holes in the top of the tank for coolant in and out from the exchanger? Thanks.

The heated pickup (no heat exchanger in tank) is aluminum tube, bent in a loop around the bottom of the existing pickup tube, 1/2" from the floor of the tank, you can see in the pics. I used 2 of the existing threaded fittings on the top of the tank. 1 of the ports was a vent and had a ball bearing in it that I had to hammer and pry out. I drilled an extra hole for a vent on the left, and put a tire valve stem on it with the core taken out.

This has worked even with thick partially hydrogenated VO in winter as cold as -10F.
