Don't feel embarrassed, you did a nice job. A few extra posts won't kill the forum.

By the way, a standard 1 inch bolt is 12 TPI, so all a guy needs to do is drill and tap the inside out to 3/4"-16 TPI and they'd hav a nice little SAE-to-hydraulic filter adapter. It would lack the upper end flats for wrench tightening, but even hand tightened with Lock-Tite (red high temp) will hold it in place just fine. I just used a zip cut disc on my grinder to slot the bottom end of my adapter so I could use a small piece of sheet metal as a flat screw driver in tightening.

By the way, it might be worth verifying whether your hydraulic filter is 10 microns rated nominally or absolutely. A nominal 10 microns could be anywhere from 20-60 microns absolute.

Yep; I got one off a Citroen a couple of years ago. Many Peugeots and Cits had them at the time of manufacture. Drawback is the old Lucas/CAV element which dumps a cupful of diesel/VO on the ground when you change it, but that's countered by the price of the elements - about 2bucks a shot.

Me too, got one. Use it in a Fiat Ducato RV, for 33000 km on WVO so far.
And I agree. the filter is a mess to change and to small for my engine....
Planning of exchanging it to an another construction and easier to exchange.

It's a stock unheated filter with a glow plug in the base.

The guy selling them was trying to get the coolant heated bases from me but the price of them has got a bit excessive in the few years or so. (well too much for him)

See http://vegburner.co.uk/heatfilter.htm

I can get a big selection of parts for this range of filter.

Single heads,
single heads with pumps,
parallel flow twin filter heads,
series flow twin filter heads.
Short and long filters for filter flow (down centre tube up through media)
short and long filters for agglomerator flow (down through media up tube in middle) which has slightly better water blocking ability and slightly shorter filter life.
Heated bases,
small and big glass bases
plexi glass bases,
short or long aluminium bases.
Glass section to go between filter and any base,
coolant heater to go between filter and head,
12V electric heater to go between filter and head,
vortex style sedimenter/water separator to go in place of filter cartridge.
diaphragm hand pump to go on M14 inlet or outlet port,
nylon mesh glass pre filter/mini sedimenter to go on M14 inlet or outlet port,
M10 restricted orifice air bleed for double filter heads or single without pump,
M14 pressure relief valve to allow the use of a powerful lift pump,
Banjo connectors suitable for 6mm, 8mm, 10mm or 12mm rubber or nylon pipe.

This is a industrial hydraulic filter that I made with Jegs 1/2 aluminum tubing, Earls fittings and some other water and hydraulic fittings. I have 4 new 10 micron filters to go with housing. Comes with mounting bracket, SS bolts and top plug has been tapped to 1/8 NPT to put temp. gauge if you wish; if not I will send original spare plug

I used foil tape backwards, attacked fattywagon line heaters wrapped around my FM100 filter. This makes a removable slevee,With household electric water heater thermostat. When coolant heat takes over, electric heater shuts off.

I did away with the heat on the filter, and bought a good used heatexchanger for $60,like Omars 16 plate.
However I foil wrap my injection line heaters, and use water heater therm to control heat.Line heaters by themselves will lose heat fast, but if you insulate with layers of aluminum foil, then aluminum tap.Wow we.

Coolant Heated Fuel Filter and Water separator made of aluminum flat plate heat exchanger (FPHE) heats vegetable oil to engine coolant temperature before it flows through filter media.

Eliminates waxing and makes WVO thinner in cold climates.

Compact size but very efficient. Easily replaceable filter element. Preferable mounting vertical (less spills when changing filter cartridge) but also can be mounted at any angle

Comes with one filter cartridge WIX 33616 with drain at the bottom to purge water out.
