First, biodiesel was made from SVO then WVO. Then rendering and bioD processing plants were built near slaughter houses. Now the Swedes are using bunny rabbits for fuel. Will bunny rabbits clog your fuel filter? Big Grin

The impact of non-native species on local environments is huge...
And a large part of those species fall in the category of PETS.

There was a recent BBC special "Last Chance to See S01E05" that showed the extraordinary devastation of imported animals (dogs, cats, rodents, and etc) on the New Zealand environment.

However, I wouldn't recommend stuffing roadkill directly into your tank.

I'd imagine one would run into several difficulties trying to run rendered biodiesel. In particularl the higher ratio of unsaturated fats.

So, one would probably either need to fractionate or crack the oils to either lower the hydrogen saturation, or shorten the hydrocarbon chains.

My Injector Pump shortens pet hydrocarbon chains to less than 1mm. Is that good enough?

If I build a scoop onto the nose of my Jetta, is it still roadkill, or am I just refueling?

I'm pretty sure that bones, hair and viscera are effectively stopped by my stock filter, but will a centrifuge work better?

Do marsupials require higher or lower temperatures than mammals? Should I install Injector Line Heaters and a FPHE if I'm driving in North America? Do I need a license from the state fish and game departments? Do F&G collect road tax? Can I drive my car all year, or only during hunting season? Is there a "jetta" season, or is it considered a "modern firearm"? It smokes like "black powder", but definitely isn't "archery". Do I need to tag each fill-up?

Trying to stay green is hard!

Cheers,

I can imagine the new post-apocalyptic hit movie....

MAD MAX 4 - ROADKILL

The last few islands of working oil wells are drying up, and the distillation systems are falling into disrepair.

Methane and "Pig ****" installations are able to provide some limited power, but there is no support for the vast agriculture infrastructure that they require.

The world is now powered by rendering stations...

A mix of large solar installations with huge mirror arrays focusing on rendering ovens to take in all living and dead creatures from lizards to birds, and even the occasional human carcass, either living or dead, and rendering them down to their valuable oils, as well as the water, proteins, and various salts and minerals.

Outside in the no-mans-land, rogue tribes have built micro-rendering systems into their vehicles... basically sucking up life from along the road, maggots, bugs, lizards, rabbits, and any carcass they come into contact with... rendering out the vital oils for engine fuel, and extracting the proteins and other hydrocarbons to be used to fuel the rendering ovens...

While the centralized solar rendering systems are able to preserve and utilize essentially every element in the organisms, these micro rendering systems spit out the charred bones, and belch soot into the atmosphere as they hunt down life along the roadways.

Ouch,
I never had this before...
And, I thought I was being creative (with a slightly wayward post).

I'm wondering if it is related to a single word that I thought was quoted directly from a popular 80's movie.
