-Lift Pump Issue-
We have thought about that Lift Pump, and have decided that were going to test/run our system a little bit first. If our current sytem needs one we will purchase one, becuase we know of others that dont have one, and there car is running fine, but What are the risks were taking without adding a Lift Pump?

-Sightglass Issue-
Right now we are running clear vinal lines that we can view into to see if there is air in our lines. We will then switch over to 5/16 fuel lines.

-Lift Pump Issue-

You have to get all the air out of your wvo system... lift pump will help you do that.
if you have a small air leak in your wvo system your ip will not pull the wvo from the tank. It may not pull it from your wvo tank ...anyway you will find out when you try to go 60-70 mph ... you will run out of fuel... anyway let us know what happens take the video crew with you on your first run and buy a auto club card if you need a tow back to school! Temp gauge is a must put one in. Can you see thru the vinal lines post a photo some of the vinal lines leak air ... you will find out soon. post some more photo's

Clear vinyl lines:
Great for CAUSING air leaks, as well as seeing them. Kinda like lighting a fire to test the smoke alarm.

The clear vinyl tubing you are using for fuel lines is not suitable for that application. You should use actual "fuel line" obtained from an auto parts store, and if you really want to see if you have air in your lines, use a glass "sight glass".

The vinyl will degrade rapidly and will then cause air leaks. I know it is tempting to use it because it is clear and you can view what is going on, but you will end up having to replace it all.

I also sugest using a better grade of hose clamps to avoid air leaks.

Heres a link explaining more. http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/voconversionbas...6730707#post16730707

And that "sight glass" can be a filter with replaceable/washable element like the Purolater I use to keep an eye on the oil.

OK, I'm going to come right out and say it...

It's one thing to ignore advice that has to do with reliabilty & efficiency (rubber hoses in tank, for example), but PLEASE change that fuel line.

Clear vinyl fuel lines... diesel tank in passenger compartment...this car could be dangerous, and is probably not street legal.

I think your ethusiasm is commedable, but there are some real red flags here.

I talked with my teacher and we both agree about the change of our vinal lines into fuel lines with a sight glass, we're first going to start the car with the vinal lines to check for air, and if there isnt any air, we will be switching to fuel lines and a sight glass, are main reason for the vinal lines is for when we we buy and cut our fuel lines to switch with our vinal lines, we'll be able to just line it up and cut since we know how ling each piece is thanks to the vinal lines. Thanks for your help, It would have been a big mistake without your guys help.

you are just making more work for yourself...
install the sight glass and fule lines now... and use a lift pump at the wvo tank ... you can see all the air you want with a sight glass ... and the lift pump at the wvo tank will keep your wvo lines full and make your Ip not have to work as hard ... just trying to save you some time ... you are just about to take a "air in the fule system 101 class" good luck Omar

You claim that your tank is not in the passenger compartment because it is in the trunk, but that is a station wagon. The point is not that it is sitting under a person or resting against their feet. it is that if that tank goes up in flames there is nothing physically separating the flames from people. This is why the wall separating the engine compartment from the people compartment is called the firewall.

I'm assuming that you are not going to change the placement of that tank. However, I'd suggest using the tank inside the car for veggy since it is not as disgusting if it leaks.

At least upgrade your fuel lines. Please!!!

Looks like there is something that goes over the tank area in the back. I like your idea of making it metal to act as a fire wall. If its metal though then it needs to have good screw downs so its not a projectile into the back of the head of the driver in an accident.

That being said Bill... this is diesel not Gasoline. Much differnt. Way hard to ignite diesel like you can gasoline even in an accident enviroment.
