These are just standard refrigeration condensers. They are always connected by brazing or soldering your lines to the ends of the tubes. For a VO application you could soft solder a female adapter on each tube and screw a hose barb into that to make hose connections. They are very effective heat exchangers and woud not work for in tank but would be good as a final HX in the engine compartment. If it was real cold in your area you might need some extra electric heat.

I did click on a couple and 3 filter bags. Their shipping person just let me know that my ship charge would be $9.80 to Calif; still @ $9/exchanger, so I guess that is the price. Mike

As far as those water cooled condensers go, you could find one in any water cooled ice maker or heat pump. Look for items like that in swap sheets or scrap yards. I have a couple kicking around to experiment with because I'm a scrounger when it comes to throwing away old equipment. Smile

Evangelos,
UPS or FedEX will always be more to canada than the post office. It has something to do with bulk customs brokerage. If a biz doesn't normally ship with the PO this info wont help you I guess.

Maybee you are interested in selling some coils? I have two of the frybrid ones on order but if you have checked in on the frybrid forum you can see that they have not been doing very good lately with getting stuff out the door.

Sucess! Mine arrived today. Looks great. I'm not sure of the best way to attach it though. Large compression fitting? a legnth of 5/8" hose clamped on to the ends? What do you think?

To be to remake I would choose a double bottom in a tank in aluminum. No risk of contamination of oil.

If a compression fitting fits on it I find they work great. If you can not find one to fit. Well you know the rest. I find if they work under pressure and heat for a few minutes they will last a very long time. You can usually tell if it does not work in about 5 seconds.

Welding it in would work depending on how thick the metal is and for $9 I am guessing it is not very thick.

Wow, that is a great deal for the money. It looks like aluminum. Is that what it is?

Yep, aluminum. I'll look for some compression fittings, but I have a feeling I will just end up using a bit of 5/8 hose clamped to the ends of it. I think I will secure it with some zip ties or wire to one of the baffles in the tank.

Mine just shipped Tuesday!

$18 shipped to Alabama.

So any ideas or suggested parts for fitting/installation? I bought a 16 gal red plastic boat tank and am working on fitting this coil into it...

You can easily make the same type of coil yourself, although it won't have all the wavy surface patterns. All you need is a quart paint can:

http://www.vocontrol.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=3

The only part that I don't really like about that heat exchanger (which is an awesome deal @ $9) is that you might have trouble making sure the connection is OUTSIDE your fuel tank. I personally wouldn't want any coolant-related connection inside my tank where 1) you can't see if it's leaking and 2) it can easily contaminate your fuel supply and be sucked into the IP.

Just my 2c :-)

Thanks,
Ray Ackley

when installing this heater is would think using a flair type opening end. naturally the hookup will be inside the tank but with a flair compared to compression you do not loose on the material if you have do any type of maintance.

Glad I could help. I still have to buy one myself, it will be for my second conversion, I didn't use one on the first. To anyone who has gotten one, I see that they are only about 8" tall. Could they be stretched a bit, to say 12", so that the tubes could be brought out of the tank and the connections made where it would be easier to keep an eye on them?
