Yes, Anybody that has a well designed two tank conversion can use PHO and fats for fuel. True, but it's a pain to dewater with a centrifuge and I get more than enough good clear oil off of the top to use for fuel. Also, I work in an unheated garage, so I'd rather not deal with the stuff in the winter time at all. GENERAL SHERMAN 2003 F-350 FX4 7.3L Vegistroke V3 |

Small centrifuges are not the best way to dewater...but dewatering pho/fats is not really that difficult....even in an unheated garage. I understand it is easier to just use the clear stuff though. How much of this "glop" do you generate a month? Maybe someone nearby is willing to process it with a hot filter/heat/settle and use it in their conversion as fuel. I probably generate 10-15 gallons of it per month, not a huge amount, just usually the bottom 3-4" inches of some of the cubees. My sources use mostly canola, so I can utilize most of what's in each cubee. I've been dumping it in the poly drums because they're left over from before I purchased a 330 gallon tote. I suppose I could just keep filling them up and giving them away so long as there's a "market" for it. By the way, the oil is located in Hunterdon County, NJ if anyone here is interested. Just PM me for the details.

I do with the waste sawdust from wood heating and the VO sludge and BD byproduct, all mixed together and packed into milk cartons free from the recycle depot.

I have been making glop logs as well as utilizing my spent filter cartridges in the wood furnace. I use cotton string wound 200 micron filters to rough filter the oil before it goes to the centrifuge and once they're loaded up with crud I burn them in the furnace. Since the filter media is cotton they burn clean and leave nothing in the firebox but the stainless steel core. Glop logs are great for warming up the house quickly in the morning, but I simply don't generate enough sawdust to use the stuff up quickly. Regardless, I have gotten some interest in the stuff, so we'll see.

I get all the extra sawdust I need from a local cabinet shop and the cut-off saw at local lumberyards. --.- ..- . ... - .. --- -. / .- ..- - .... --- .-. .. - -.-- '89 Toyota 3.4L TDI + FPHE BD+ULSD+VO+JetB blends |

If I were you I'd find a local restaurant with a grease dumpster and dump the settled crud and PHO in there for someone else to deal with. That's what I do and have the restaurant owner's permission. It's good to have a steady outlet for all the dregs because all unwanted oil will not accumulate at your place leaving it cleaner and leaner.
