I blew a line and 50 gallons spilled onto my concrete driveway Mad I poured ALOT of kitty litter thankfully before it reached the street. But now my half my driveway is stained. How do you get the stain out??? It looks horrible and my stupid neighbor will most likely call the cops. She has twice before, since I use WVO. And there never was a spill before. But I need this one cleaned ASAP!! HELP!!

I always say your not a true vegger till you have had a 200L oil spill. Welcome to the Club!

Anyway, cleaning it up is Easy!

Wet down the driveway, (after removing Kitty litter in this case)
Liberally sprinkle with Koh or Naoh.
Broom it over a few times making sure it stays wet.
Leave to soak between broomings 5-10 min.
Hose off.

If the driveway is particularly porous, you might want to pressure wash it but I find this method works well on relatively fresh spills (month or less.)
The one problem with this technique is that it will clean concrete soooo well you will have to do the lot otherwise the part you DIDN'T spill the oil on looks stained and dirty! Eek

You can also of course use Glyc if you have any but its not nearly as effective as the straight Caustic.

Start with Simple Green and hot water, and a mop, bucket. Then move on to Washing Soda preferably, baking soda if not. Use the different methods combined on it and you can completely eradicate it. Report back.

None of the chemicals with this method are a potential bio-hazard Eek Smile

Ok so I am clear. Do I mop with hot water and simple green then rinse?? Then baking soda with hot water?? Or do I mix all together?? Also do I let sit for 15 minutes or rinse immediately??

Thanks for the Help.

Simple green doesn't really need rinsing it's natural soap. If you can get Washing soda sprinkle it liberally and hit it with even a cold hose should do; if you can only get baking soda experiment and multiply by how much you think is in your driveway . In general I'd say use the methods alternatively: first 1 then the other.

I always have several drums of saw dust handy, it sucks up every ml of oil, then clean up is a simple mop job, if I had all my spills it would probably add up to 500 gallons or so, if you aint spillin it, you aint doin it right. Big Grin

the best thing I ever did was spill some biodiesel on my garage slab- when I wiped it up, it cleaned it sparkly fresh. so then i spilled some more.

good luck

and if you think simple green is nontoxic, I suggest some research. google searchwhile it is probably better than most"driveway cleaners" I wouldnt want very much of that crap in my storm drain.

Be the change you hope to find in this world.-Gandhi
