Does anyone know how hot SVO has to be in order to filter by 5 microns? 10 microns? 1 micron?

In my experience if you get the svo up to 40 to 50 degrees C it goes through ok. At the moment I experimenting with filtering the oil cold. The idea behind this is to end up with only oil and no fat. I'm doing it with a old top loading automatic washing machine. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Cheers

Do you know where i can get a stainless steel filter that is 5 microns? It seems to me that if you can burn the fat as well as the oil you wouldn't have to find a way to dispose of it, and you'd have that much more fuel!

Try TekSupply.

They have mesh strainers, high temp filter elements and housings and a lot of good stuff for us energy effecient types. www.teksupply.com

Also give Surplus Center a call at 1-800-488-3407
(no web presence). Tons of stuff to make your mouth water in the '01 catalog.
