Dana,

I RECENTLY DISCOVERED A MINOR PROBLEM WITH MY JETTA TDI... I RUN A SINGLE TANK SYSTEM WITH A HEATED FILTER AND INJECTOR LINE HEATER.. I RESIDE IN FLORIDA WHERE ITS USUALLY 80 DEGREES OR HIGHER. mY BLEND I USE IS 20% RUG AND 80% WVO...

THE PROBLEM: WHEN MY TANK GETS TO ABOUT 1/4 IT TAKES A BUNCH OF CRANKING TO GET IT STARTED. AFTER IT STARTS, SOMETIMES IT STALLS AFTER ABOUT TEN SECONDS OF IDILING... EVNTUALLY I GET IT STARTED AND ONCE THE ENGINE IS AT TEMP , IT WON'T STALL.

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHY THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING?

The rug and the veggie oil are separating from each other and the oil is going to the bottom.

I have to say I use a lot less than 20 percent diesel for start up and flush on my two tank system.

Ive heard this issue before on many different configurations (two tank, on tank, blending etc.)

first thing to do to eleminate some possibilities is to use up your tank and start filling with diesel untill the whole system is nothing but diesel. If problem still exist then you've narrowed the issue down to something beside alternative fuels.

WVO life pending still grrrr Frown

Place banana in your ear.
Observe that there is no alligators around.
Conclude bananas placed in ears keep aligators away.

Nick,

I wish I could help..but I would need more info and will be leaving for a week in the backwoods on Teus. I suggest you take the above advice and turn off your line heaters and heated filter when you switch to pure diesel. This will help you isolate the problem.
