It's extremely well-written, neutral, and well-referenced. Go get this book even if you think you know everything already.

With all due respect,

I don't think the book is that neutral.

The science area is. However, the "system" conversation isn't.

The analysis of one tank systems is weak, yet Forrest admits his bias right up front.

At one point, the discussion of a two-tank system reads like a Frybrid commercial. There is no doubt that Chris has done quite a bit of research on the subject just as Forrest has. Hell, even a couple ideas I brought up about comparing Sandy Brae water measurements vs hot pan test on the Frybrid site were ran with. I sat on my hands on that one and others ran with it.

I would guess that without Chris' permission, a lot of the IP discussed would have gotten Chris' panties in a snit.

Forrest has written a great book. It's an easy read and his facts are straight AFAIK.

What I would have wanted to see more of:

Better discussion of single tank systems.

An evaluation of stand alone controllers (VO Controls) and the other one mentioned.

Less bias toward Frybrid.

If you use wvo/svo or bio-d the book should be sitting on your reference shelf. Period.

...As folks have pointed out - it is the commercial renderer collecting for biodiesel feedstock that is the "competition". Worry less about other WVO users!

Municipalities are a growing concern - they may
pass local laws to force the collection of WVO by the local government to supply them with biodiesel feedstock. That's what I'd be concerned about!!

Aww DB,

Here we go agreeing again! I hate when I agree with a republican! Big Grin

Stay for the long haul. There will be plenty of grease. Once the "oouuh-wow" factor or "honeymoon" effect goes away, and all the "newbies" realize how much trouble it is to do what we do... as was said, there will be a lot of wvo/svo/bio-d stuff for sale on eBay.

In the meantime, I am more worried that your local AHJ will make laws to keep the "tire-kickers" from blowing themselves up!

Wasn't this thread started to talk about THE BOOK??? ...now on page 64....
