Surplus Center used to offer a US-made, welded steel unit, original meant for a tractor. About $20. Brake line fittings fit the in/out ports, and the coolant ports are pipe thread if I recall right.

I never did find a place to mount it in my VW. Space under the hood is a premium.
Cheers,
JohnO

And yes, there is a difference.

And yes I will purchase American every time I get a chance if there is a comparable facsimile, as easily available - even if it costs more (within reason e.g. paid $69.00 for a FPHE from Duda - if a similar one made in the US had been available I would have gladly paid up to $100.00 for the same.

Purchasing info

The A8 WT can be bought from the site linked. monopoel.de.
Use Google translate web page to fill out info. Shipping will be steep from Germany.
But I know of no other place that sells the small FPHE.

You should be able to buy direct from Flat Plate. I did and bought 3 units.
I just emailed and phoned their sales dept, iirc. Just get a 3"x10" 10or 11? plate copper brazed.
Should be around $120, iirc.

Sounds like a good opportunity for someone to become a US distributor.
