Use this compact but powerful 12 volt electric heater before your injection pump to give your oil a final temperature boost before it enters the engine. A flexible inner tube allows this heater to fit in tight spaces and even around corners. Available in different power capacities to fit your needs. 170 and 250 watt heaters are excellent for smaller vehicles and for adding to systems that are already well-heated. 325 and 420 watt heaters are useful for larger vehicles (over 60 gal/hour fuel circulation) and for use as systems' primary heaters. Features: Only aluminum in contact with fuel Insulating shell layers ensure that heat gets transferred to your oil and not dissipated to the surrounding air. Flexible - can bend up to 90 degrees: see instructions Two 3/8" barbed fittings (also available with 1/4" NPT fittings, with 3/8" barbed elbow fittings, or with other color 3/8" barbs upon request.) Made in USA to help you use USA-made fuel! Includes installation instructions 3/4" diameter on all sizes 170 watt heater is 6.75" long. Draws about 14 amps. 250 watt heater is 6.75" long. Draws about 21 amps. 335 watt heater is 10.5" long. Draws about 28 amps. 420 watt heater is 10.5" long. Draws about 35 amps. http://www.vegmatics.com/shop/components.html have a good read Omar www.omarsales.com |

What about using it at the fuel pick-up?

Is there any performance data on these heaters as far as their heating capacity for a given flow rate of oil?
IE, X gal of oil/HR @X Degrees in = Xdegrees fuel temp out. I am very skeptical about the actual heating ability of these electric units but I am willing to have my mind changed by some practical and factual flow rate/ heating test data. So far I have never seen any performance data for this type of heater and I think I know why! **** * 1978 Merc 300D. Running Blend and 2 tank system with Home Made HE and water injection. |

Does have a PTC thermistor or other control to limit temperature . If so what is the highest temperature ? -Thanks

First things first, thanks for the publicity Omar!!
The heaters currently have no regulated upper temperature limit (only depends on how quickly they are cooled by the vegetable oil), but in the future you can expect an optional built-in temperature switch which will limit them to 250 degrees. That addition is still in the works. You should not use this heater as a fuel pickup as is, because although the heater element is weather-sealed it is not airtight and submerging it could damage the element. I do like your idea though - an electric heated pickup would be a good product to try and develop. We do not have accurate temperature rise data at the moment, but I can promise that they make a huge difference. I'll be sure to post more useful information once it's all compiled. |

Jake, thanks for posting, and I look forward to the data as soon as you can post it. Actually, I didn't suggest it AS a pickup but BY the pickup. Should work similarly (if the heat flow/transfer rate is adequate) without the risk of polymerization that an in-tank unit presents..
