By experience once heated and seperated. Is filtering the oil through two layers of bluejean pants sufficient enough to run??

No. The degree to which you need to filter is dependent upon the vehicle, but it is safest to filter to 1 micron ABSOLUTE rating. The rating of jeans filtering is guesswork and unreliable. Fine for prefiltering, but that's it.

I cold filter and then heat/settle.

I use filter felt I buy from Mcmaster.com in 5 and 25 micron. My set up is ambient temp filtering into 55 gal drum. Bed sheet on 25 micron felt on 5 micron felt and going into a 1 micron bag hanging in drum. Oil flowing very slow in this cold spell.

No sock filter can be trusted to filter to 10 microns regardlesss of what material it is made of. It is best to always also use a "safety" filter that "refilters" wvo primarily filtered with sock filters before (or as) it is pumped into your vehicles tank. Since the vehicle should also have a filter between the tank and fuel injection system this step is mostly to preclude that "on vehicle" filter from clogging while driving and needing roadside replacement.

I am not sure what you mean by "heated and seperated" though. If you mean "settled" as in "suspended water settled out" you should be aware that suspended water does not quickly settle out in wvo with high particulate contamination. So prior to any attempt to allow suspended water to settle out of suspension most wvo must first be filtered to 10 microns.

Since the "on vehicle" VO fuel filter should (in a well engineered conversion) match the micron rating of the diesel fuel filter that was installed on the vehicle and these are usually (but not always) 10 micron filters I consider pre-filtering to a finer micron rating unneccesary. It does no harm to do so..but I don't see any point in doing so.

Essentially if you are certain that your VO fuel filter matches the micron rating of the engines stock (diesel) fuel filter and it is lasting the recommended number of miles between replacements with out exhibiting any signs of clogging you are pre-filtering vo/wvo fuel to a fine enough level to prevent premature wear of your engines fuel injection system components.

Mnay assume that on board fuel filters are doing their job just fine until they completely clog. This is an assumption that can be costly. To assure maximum fuel injection system component life fuel filters should be regularly changed. If one were fanatical about this one would use on board fuel filters that are of a smaller "nominal rating" than the stock diesel filter was. If one were truely trying to assure that their fuel injection system components lasted as long as possible one would use an onboard VO filter that is of a significantly smaller "absolute" micron rating than the stock diesel filter is.
