I never drove a diesel before getting my '77 300D a couple weeks ago, but the combination of 5 cylinders, 2 tons of car, and an auto tranny equates to slow acceleration anyway (unless something was amiss from the start). On diesel, it lost oomph up hills over a few %, and SVO hasn't hindered or helped that lack of power...maybe I'm spoiled by a manual tranny RAV4 and the low speed zip of an EV

James,BD seems to have cleaned out the innards of my '82 Hilux. After 560,000km on Distillate I guess it was a bit gummed up in the pump and injector department. Strongest mix used so far has been 50/50 but most of the mix was about 10 to 20%BD.
Engine pulls better and maintains better performance when resorting to distillate. My wife was not aware of the change in fuel but noticed the increase in performance, reporting 10kph better cresting of a hill and better holding of top gear. Any extra performance from the 2.2l 4 speed Hilux is a definite bonus. Can't wait to get onto 100% Bd and open up the snoke screw. Regards squarepeg. |
