I am planning a WVO conversion on our 96 passat and the guy who is doing it is partial to greasel (not greasecar) kits. Any pros and cons of the kits?

there is much discussion on these kits if you do a search with those names as keywords. obviously people on the greasecar forum have a lot to say about the greasel kit, but greasel does not have forum, so there isnt as much GC slamming.

I too would like to know the pros and cons of these kits. Also what about Plant Drive?

You really need to decide for your self what you want. All the kits have advantages and I'm sure disadvantages. You will find many folks piece the pieces together from various sources saving considerable money doing it that way.

It depends on allot of personal choice. How comfortable are you designing a system for your own car. How aware are you of the various components and how they will work together, and how much of a risk taker you are.

I went to a kit seller to get their experience and support since I'm not one that likes to reinvent the wheel.

There is also a great book out there called "Sliding Home” by Ray Holan. He gave a chapter to this subject. It does a good job letting many of the kit company try to differentiate themselves from the competition. The book is must reading for any one thinking of running WVO.

I feel that the main difference is that GreaseCar has done much more research and development of their system than Greasel.

For what it's worth.
If they both cost the same(they don't)...and offerred the same efficientcy and adaptability(they don't)..I would go with GC simply because I think they have done their "homework" better.

I feel Plantdrive/Neoteric is a better choice than either...having done it's homework best.
