Seems like a guy could make a wvo burner to heat a workshop. I have lots of fryer oil . Using compressed air I could spray the oil into the chamber but I don't know what to use for ignition. Must be somebody out there thats experimented with this idea? I would think it could burn continuously to keep things simple. I have a 100 lb. propane cylinder that I used to use for my first biodiesel reactor and could even thread a heating element into it, I could use it for the wvo storage . It can even hold compressed air up to 130 psi. I need to figure out the injection and ignition side of the furnace.

Many here have experimented with this. Using the Find button for furnace gives 357 threads here:
http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/ev...orum_scope=159605551
and find on babington (a type of burner using compressed air) gives 186 threads here:

I use a much simpler approach, a VO gravity drip system into a woodstove with a burner I describe in this thread:
Simple VO drip into woodstove works good
Also see the space heating section of burnveg where there are more threads.

A burner I recently Built HERE
It's about as simple as I have seen for producing usable heat rather than just being able to burn oil in some fashion.

It uses only Blown rather than compressed air and a drip feed. I don't like the idea of running compressors as they tend to be noisy, use a lot of power and running them continuously creates a lot of wear on them.

If another drum were welded on the top of this basic burner setup with a chimney to take the combustion fumes away ( although it burns perfectly smoke free) and then 2 55 gal drums had the ends cut off and were placed over that and air blown between the 2, you could duct the air where you wanted it and have a VERY powerful shop heater that would be simple to make, cheap to run and heat large areas. You could also run it without the outer barrels but the thing throws a lot of heat and you would want plenty of space around it.

With a 3 speed fan on the burner, you could also adjust the heat for a quick warm up then a lower heat for maintaining the warmth.

The simple drip pot might be the way to go. Are there any pics?

There is a "heating" forum in the biodiesel section, it has many discussions about types of heaters burning straight veg. This links to my discussion describing the veg drip heater that I have used to heat my house for the last 3 winters, there are pictures. Check out the "military heaters on ebay" discussion there, it describes using a ready-made cheap military surplus drip burner unit for veg heating.
