Having some spare time I decided to investigate the contents of my heated tank.
I have not used SVO in the vehicle since april. In fact I havn't used the vehicle much. The heated pipes were disconnected. Shortly before I disconnected everything, I had emptied and cleaned the tank as I thought I had a leak in the heating pipes in the tank.
Anyway I refilled the tank with clean SVO with some diesel in. Maybe the heating pipe was still leaking a bit.I did a few miles on SVO after this.
Now I find that there is a slight surface rust on the metal tank. The 1" of SVO/diesel looks very dirty (rust red)and the base of the tank has a strange layer of what looks like a congealed custard about 1mm thick. I lifted pieces of this out of the tank and it would turn to a paste when rubbed.
Anybody got any ideas as to whats happening. I have some pictures if anyones interested.
