WVO. Waste vege oil comes in many variations, I get mine that is 60% sunflower
After a bit of cold weather, I realized that the injector pump couldn't happily suck cold oil from the back of the car, and through a filter in one action. I had to add a Swirl tank.
The swirl tank is just a fuel reservoir to allow quicker heating (by recirculation from the IP) and easier running in cold weather. It also reduces the load on the injector pump, as it only has to pull from the swirl tank, and not all the way from the main tank at the back.
A note to anyone wanting to copy this: if you blend anything with your fuel, you might ruin the innards of your shurflo pump, though you might be able to get a viton replacement for the diaphragm. The santoprene in one of my pumps swelled so badly after running some #1 heating oil through it that it wouldn't work anymore and I know from others' experience it won't hold up to gasoline.
Mine were older pumps and I can't get a diaphragm replacement anymore. Anyone out there have any replacements for the older (1980s RV 1.6 gpm)pump diaphragms? If so, send me a PM.
