Currently we are producing crude soyoil with mechanical extruders and oil presses. Silliker lab test results show 0.29% free fatty acids as oleic and 0.190% moisture. Is there any way of producing soydiesel from this without degumming or processing the oil? A product from Ca. called DFX mixed 300 to 1 claims this possible. The finished product can then be mixed with petro diesel. Any ideas or suggestions? We are located in NW Ohio and have 15000 gal of crude soyoil to use or sell.

What exactly is soydiesel?

Is it biodiesel or something else?

I'm interested in making biodiesel from pressed soy and other seeds as well. I understand degumming is necessary. But, I seem to remember reading that most soy oil is made from chemical extraction rather than mechanical seed presses. And, that there may be a difference regarding degumming if from solvent extraction vs. mechanical. Any input?

Yes,
I don't think you will have to worry about degumming if you are planning on making biodiesel. But the folks on the biodiesel side of this forum would be able to help you more on the subject of biodiesel. This forum is more regarding strait VO as fuel.
