Hejdo Steinar (excuse my spelling),

My CF is very quiet - I can barely hear it going at 90psi. Steinar, perhaps yours is noisy because it is attached to the barrel which creates harmonic vibrations.

Thanks for the posts. Yes, your WVO area is a lot cleaner than mine. I'll be sure not to let my wife see the pictures of your garage! Smile

It is a nice looking setup, I was thinking the same thing about the garage, I've spill and splattered more than I'd like to admit. It even splatters out the open top barrel the DieselCraft is in. So it goes. Keep us informed on how it goes for you Steinar.

I have started setting a lid on top of my barrel while running to prevent that splatter. If I had lots of water in my VO, such as after a mistwash, I wouldn't do that since it lowers the water removal rate.

Sam & Sun.
I only cut out a part of the drum where the CF is mounted. I can send a pic tomorrow.
I do not have much water in my oil as I can se, and my suppliers are cooperating not putting water in the oil. So I am a bit lucky there. They are happy that I pick ut the oil, then they do not need to drive to the recycle station to drop it. Same them work and time. Save me too :-))

Get more oil than what I can use right now :-)

I'll keep you updated! Thanks again for all information on this forum.

Paul, yes it is attached to the drum, an yes I realized why it became noisy. I used rubber gaskets between the bracket and drum wall, but I might have to add more. How did you solve the noise problems?
Thanks for impressing me that my garage are tidy. Big Grin
No it's not, not today, but it will be tomorrow, because then I will arrange all mess from the premiere today! hehe...
Then I can send you another pic...for your wife! Big Grin

I have ran my CF a couple of times now. One time I ran it for an hour or so and there was no goo. I realized I did not have the arrows matched up. My motor and pump are so loud I can't hear if the CF is spinning or not, so I started to tell by the way the oil comes out. If it's kind of splattering out it's spinning, if it's a clean stream it's not and that means either the arrows are not matched up or you have tighted the blue top on too hard.

I had some spiking issues with the psi, I realized I was standing on one of the hoses - DOPE! Also spiking may occur from hoses getting kinked; if you’re like me you went as cheap as possible on materials, so I initially used cheap garden hose. A few problems with cheap hose: 1. when they start to get hot they get soft and start to kink in bends, 2. at certain PSI intensive points in the system they cannot handle the PSI (I had a hose rip while in use, I had hot oil spraying every where including me), 3. The crappy rubber inside starts to deteriorate putting 300+ micron size particles in your system. Spiking PSI may also occur from different consistencies of the oil. I have found as it gets cleaner your PSI will drop and stabilize. I just purchased a pressure relief valve calibrated to make sure a strong PSI spike does not screw up my CF. My 2 cents to help the next guy.

I know this is off subject, but I just bought a VegiStroke system for my 7.3L PSD shuttle bus. Does anybody know where I can get some good information on building a fuel tank? I have a guy who can build it for me, he just needs to know specifications and the like.

I drilled a hole in the side of the barrel and ran the pipe through it, not attached to the barrel at all. There are pics of that on page 7.

You should start a new post about that, the people with answers may not read this thread. And this thread is way too long already Smile

Just so happens I just had my Excursion converted by the VegiStroke guys Jason/James. I had a custom built tank to go underneath my Excursion in one of the cavities between the transfer case, the drive line and the rear diff. I will be putting more tanks under the vehicle possibly one for CF application. I'm thinking about mounting a CF next to the alternator, there's a good size empty space there. Anyway so far http://www.coyote-gear.com/ is the best place I have seen for custom tanks. Mine was way too expensive.

Yes that one will work, but its much bigger than you need. You will need to either slow it down with pulleys or bypass a lot.

Mr Away With Me....

or you could get any of these for a cheap alternative (I'm all for cheap!)

Power Steering Pump (Dodge Neon 199X, Mitsubishi Montero 84-89, Mitsubishi 2.5L truck 80-89, Dodge D50 80-89) or 93 Camaro

or

When I was looking for a pump, there were quite a few hydraulic gear pumps on ebay that would probably work.

Thank you Paul, I don't know why I didn't first mention all the power steering pump folks have been using, and a slew mentioned along this book, er uh thread.

Speaking of that, Sun. Might I suggest you put your summary link in your signature? The whole thread should be moved into a Feature Topic, there is hardly any part of cleaning vegoil that isn't addressed.

And, I'd drop the Veg Oil Trip from Oakland to Argentina as a featured topic. I've read the entire thing, it is an interesting read since it is so amazing in how unbelievably naive some people are, but if anything it shows more of what not to do. Maybe I'll mention this to Miss Mark.

The one you linked earlier is fine. Or for off the shelf for more $, try www.grainger.com or www.mcmaster.com they both have many that will work, which I have put links in this thread to many times.

Here is a pump at mcmaster, look at part# 4271K1 mcmaster pump $174 I think I will add it to my summary.

Thats not really needed since there are so many people building these that this ends up getting bumped every day. To organize this properly, the ideal would be a centrifuge section or a filter/dewater section, which could be split into general, centrifuge brands (dieselcraft, spinner, spin clean, acme), pumps/motors, rig pictures, etc.

This is something the bio people could get use out of too, so maybe it would be more likely to happen since the bio side here is very organized since the moderators are from that side.
